Skiing
At approximately one hour drive from Daumazan lies the ski resort of Ax-les-Thermes. Between 1400 and 2400 meters Ax-les-Thermes lies in the heart of the area, 75 km piste are offered to skiers of all levels. The 30 by 30 kilometer area of the slopes are connected by 16 lifts. (1 ski lift cabs, 5 chairlifts and 11 tele skis). The area is snow secure thanks to 40 snow cannons. Each area has its own peculiarities, associated with the height and difficulty of the descent. That's why the station of Ax for every taste.From the novice skier to the passionate and the sportsmen. From Ax 3 snow areas are accessible. Sometimes you want the friendly slopes of Bonascre, then back to the peaks of Saquet or you long for the wild nature of Campel.
Further away one and a half hour drive from Daumazan lies the ski resort of St Lary-Soulan. Between 1700 and 2515 meters you will find 100 km of snow for skiers of all levels (7 green, 25 blue, 14 red and 9 black runs). There are not fewer than 31 ski lifts (1 gondola, 1 cabin jobs, 13 chairlifts and 16 drag lifts). The area is snow secure thanks to the 250 snow cannons. For cross-country skiers there is a 3 km long trail. For the youngsters there is a snowpark, a halfpipe and a Kidpark furnished. And there is also a toboggan run. For a longer stay Hotel Le Christiana ** with French/Dutch management is a must.
There are also several options for snowshoe hiking, cross country skiing and even a trip with sled dogs is possible.
